According to the company, the necessary conditions to safely guarantee the docking maneuver of the ship Kriola, which regularly ensures the complete route of the Sotavento line, with connections between Santiago, Fogo and Brava, and return to Santiago, were not met.

In a statement, CV Interilhas reports that, according to Commander Fernando Braz de Oliveira, at the time of departure there was an operational window that allowed the voyage to be carried out safely, but that during the approach to the port of Vale dos Cavaleiros, a new technical assessment confirmed a change in sea conditions, with agitation incompatible with a safe docking.

"For this reason, and in strict compliance with maritime safety protocols, the operational decision was made not to dock at Fogo, and the ship was to proceed to the port of Furna, on Brava Island, in accordance with the operational model," he explained.

The company clarifies that passengers originating from Santiago and destined for Fogo remained safe throughout the entire journey, and no incidents were recorded on board.

The limitation occurred exclusively at the level of the docking maneuver in Fogo and had subsequent effects on the scheduled connection to Brava, depending on the daily operation circuit.

Passengers were informed at check-in about the sea conditions and the possibility of operational disruptions, and during the journey, the crew provided regular updates on the operational situation.

CV Interilhas guarantees that it is providing all necessary assistance to the affected passengers and safeguarding the transported cargo, in accordance with Regulation No. 1/2015, which governs the inter-island transport of passengers, baggage and goods by sea.

The company maintains constant monitoring of atmospheric conditions and sea state, in coordination with the relevant authorities, and assures that new information will be released as soon as conditions are met for the resumption of normal operations.
